Worked in the Library Media Center for 5 hours

Today I was at Whittier Elementary. We had three 3rd grade classes come into the library today. Each group did the same dictionary lesson that I did last Thursday at Brass, which we will finish with them when they come into the library next week Monday. In addition, we had three 2nd grade classes come into the library. With the 2nd graders, we did a dictionary lesson, which was led by Mrs. Skold. This lesson focused on examining all of the information contained in a dictionary. What the class did was we picked a word (one class did “fight” for example) and then broke down all that each entry included including if the word was a noun, verb, etc., how to pronounce the word, examples, etc.

We also had story time with two Kindergarten and one 1st grade class. I also checked in and out library materials, along with shelving books that had been returned. Today, we also went over the process for scheduling library time and how the librarian works to collaborate with the teachers of the school.
